There are many different kinds of acne, but each type of acne is caused by a bacteria that gets stuck in your skin pores. How this bacteria gets trapped, and what symptoms will result, will determine what type of acne that you will end up with. The most common types of acne are blackheads, whiteheads, and the cystic acne that appear as red swollen bumps right under the skin.
The type of acne known as blackheads will appear when the pores on your face open up and your skin cells, known as sebum, oxidize and turn into a dark brown or black shade. Because blackheads are already pores that are open on your skin, you never want to squeeze or tweeze blackheads, or this will make the problem worse. Squeezing blackheads can lead to inflammation in the surrounding pores which will lead to worse acne problems such as cystic acne. The best way to remove blackheads is with a blackhead remover, or with removal strips available over the counter at most drug stores. These types of removal tools will pull the bacteria right out of your pores and leave the area clean and acne free.
Whiteheads are the most popular type of acne, and the kind of acne that beckons you to pop and squish the problem out. Whiteheads often occur in open pores as well, and appear white due to the skin cells that are sitting with the acne bacteria in the pores of your skin. Because this is also an open pore type acne, you can warm the area with a warm wet cloth for a few minutes, and this warming will open the pores up even more, allowing for an easy means of sliding out the whitehead. If bleeding occurs, stop immediately and let the acne soften on its own.
Cystic acne is a little more complicated to deal with than whiteheads or blackheads, because the pores on the skin are closed and unwilling to open. Cystic acne is often the most painful type of acne, and is directly caused by the amount of bacteria in that specific skin pore. Treating the root of this type of acne with medication such as Accutane will often be the best way to treat this acne without further complications. Trying to tweeze, squeeze, or push out the bacteria that is trapped within this closed pore is only going to cause more pain, inflammation, and embarrassing scar tissue. Because medication such as Accutane targets the cause of your acne, you can expect to see clearance very soon after starting medication.
When you are suffering from acne, you want relief fast, and not every treatment will work for everyone. For milder forms of acne, use over the counter cleansers and products to clear up blackheads and whiteheads. If you suffer frequently from persistent acne that appears a combination of these forms with cystic acne, talk to your doctor about medication like Accutane. You don't have to live in embarrassment any longer, fast acne treatment is available and may be closer than you think. About Author
